Indie Author Day Children’s Panel Today & ELIXIR BOUND Sale

I have a fun book announcement coming up next week (check out my site’s header for a hint of what it’s about). Quick post today to let you know that at 3:00 p.m. I’ll be on the Indie Author Day Children’s Authors Panel with the Norwalk Public Library.

Carol Gordon Ekster, Allia Zobel Nolan, Amy Oestreicher, Eric Sondergeld, and Frederick Thurber, and I will be on the panel discussing indie children’s publishing and our books. I’ll be reading from my latest YA fantasy ELIXIR SAVED. This will be the first time I’ll be doing a reading of this book! And this is a good opportunity to check out my virtual author visit space live, which I recently blogged about setting up.

You can email Cynde Lahey at clahey@norwalkpl.org to join the Zoom directly or join us live on the Norwalk Public Library’s Facebook page.

Last order of business is to share that ELIXIR BOUND is on sale for $0.99! Also, if you have purchased any of my paperwork books, I’m happy to send you a signed bookplate. Signed books make great holiday gifts. Just send me an email.

Busy Summer, Busy Fall, & ELIXIR SAVED Cover Sneak Peek

Happy autumn! It’s been so busy here since school started! Summer was busy with fun activities and relaxing with the family, which I loved, but I got so little work done. So I’m happy to have been able to focus more on work this past month.

I’m loving my new schedule with the two bigger boys at school all day and just The Gentleman (who still naps in the afternoon!) home with me. I’ve been able to get a lot done, and I’ve really been pushing myself on the ELIXIR SAVED revision. This is seriously the book where everything has taken forever. Other exciting news for ELIXIR SAVED includes an upcoming cover reveal (sneak peek below)!!!

I’m also gearing up for a long weekend writing retreat at the Highlights Foundation! A writer friend and I are doing an Unworkshop. I’ve heard wonderful things about the Highlights workshops, so I’m excited to experience the place for myself. The idea of the Unworkshop is that you have time to focus on whatever project you’d like; they provide the meals, the lodging, and an inspiring rural setting. The plan is to get some major words written for my witchy middle grade book. Picture MEAN GIRLS meets THE CRUCIBLE!

Indie Author Day at the Norwalk Public Library is also coming up on Saturday, October 12. The full list of authors attending hasn’t been released yet, but based on past years, I’m guessing there will be large number. I’ll be there with ELIXIR BOUND and PIRATE ISLAND.

What are you all up to this fall?

Event Announcement: Indie Author Day at the Norwalk Public Library

So by now most of you know that I have a book coming out soon (since I’ve been talking about it ad nauseam here!), my middle grade adventure PIRATE ISLAND. The paperback and e-book are available for pre-order on all the major book selling sites. And while it doesn’t officially release until October 17, I will have copies for sale at Indie Author Day at the Norwalk Public Library!

The event is on Saturday, October 14 and

will feature 40 authors, live readings, SELF-e demos by the librarians, refreshments, and book sales. I’ll be reading a selection from PIRATE ISLAND at 1:00 p.m. and hanging around for the afternoon, though it goes the full day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to paperbacks of PIRATE ISLAND, I’ll be selling ELIXIR BOUND paperbacks as well. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun for readers and authors alike!

Author Events Updates and Pictures

I’m very excited to let you all know that I’ll be attending the Annual Authors’ Festival at the Groton Public Library on Saturday, November 5, 2016. The event begins at noon with author talks, refreshments, door prizes, and a book sale/signing. There will be over 40 authors in attendance, so something for every reader. I’ll be there with bookmarks and copies of ELIXIR BOUND. I might even do some holiday shopping while I’m there…signed books make for great gifts (wink, wink!).

This is on the heels of my most recent author event at the Stratford Library for the national Indie Author Day. There were some great author talks, including fellow New England SCBWI member Stacy Barnett Mozer with her MG contemporary THE SWEET SPOT and Jared Topalian (who attended my first ever author talk–one of the few people there who wasn’t a friend or related to me!) with his fantasy ELIAS BROOK. Here’s the whole crew!
